Men’s and Women’s Head Coach (two separate positions)

South Shore Anchors RFC

The South Shore Anchors Rugby Football Club is seeking qualified coaches for both their Men’s NERFU Division 2 team, and Women’s NERFU Division 3 team for the 2021-2022 season. In addition to fall regular season play, the teams also maintain a strong spring schedule and participate in a variety of tournaments and events throughout the year.

The annual rugby cycle includes approximately:

  • 10 week spring season

  • 13 week Fall Season

We are looking for individuals who can foster an inclusive culture with a focus on winning games. The right individual will be able to coach players new to the game while also advancing the skills and knowledge of veteran players.

The job responsibilities are the same for both Men’s and Women’s head coaching positions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan and attend two weekly practice sessions taking place on Monday and Wednesday evenings- times TBD

  • Plan and manage Saturday games for both A and B side – Approximately 50% of games will require travel

  • Develop a robust game plan with both offensive and defensive strategies

  • Provide instruction and encouragement to players of all skill levels and positions, with a strong focus on player safety, teamwork, and fair play

  • Create an inclusive and safe culture for players of all experience and skill levels

  • Communicate progress and plans with club officers and players

  • Maintain a small stock of equipment (ball and cones – provided by club), and transport to training and games

Qualifications:

  • L200 level coaching certificate

  • Three or more years of successful coaching experience

  • Strong history of involvement in Rugby clubs and culture, and experience as a player

  • Excellent communication, organization, and coaching skills

Compensation:

  • Compensation negotiable based on experience
