World Rugby’s path to ban transgender women from rugby eschews values of inclusiveness and solidarity we hold dear in New England. This is not what rugby is about. Therefore NERFU joins players and unions around the world in standing against World Rugby’s decision. We will be persistent in upholding a welcoming environment for our transgender and non-binary athletes.
To that end we will soon post for the recruitment of a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion advisor who will be empowered to connect with the New England rugby community to identify shortcomings and consolidate recommendations for improved inclusiveness within NERFU including potentially the recommendation of bylaw and handbook amendments.
